Independent Studies: Special effects makeup

Firstly, I marked where I wanted my scratches with black face paint, because this easily comes off.

Secondly, I mixed play-doh with hair wax, and it created this really slimy and sticky substance that had roughly the same consistency as clay, but much slimier. I rolled this into a sausage shape and then i pushed down the sides to give it a ridge in the middle that smoothes out at the edges, to blend it into my skin (kind of)

You can't really see it in this picture (My little sister took them) but what I did was I applied foundation to the play-doh waxy stuff to try and get it to match the colour of my skin.

What I did here, was I made an indent down the centre of the waxy stuff to create a dip/groove in the middle of it. I did this using a stanley knife, and then I filled the groove with black face paint because it gives depth to the cut and makes the blood look a deeper red.

Here I applied a red eyeshadow, and a little bit of red lipstick around the cut to make it look slightly bruised, I also mixed in a small amount of black eyeshadow to give it more of a darker tinge.

Here I added some fake blood into the grooves so it adds authenticity. This is close up and you can obviously see it's not real, but if you look at it from a distance..

  1. Much better at a distance - you can play around with lighting to make it even more realistic.
