Main Characters in Horror Movies

Silent Hill Revelation

•   Silent Hill Revelation was rated a 15 in the UK.
•   The main character is a adolescent who has recently turned 18, so it fits with the target audience of 15-25 year olds.
•   She is dressed in typical young teenage clothes, which consists of bright colours and the fact that she starts off the movie by going to school.
•   The other male character is also shown to be around the same age as the main female protagonist, this is also shown through his mise en scene, where he wears very young clothes and he is first seen in the school.

Sinister

•   Sinister was also rater a 15 in the UK

•   However, the protagonists is clearly middle aged, which may suggest that the target audience's range was a lot wider e.g. from 15-40+ years.

•   His facial features are quite old because he has wrinkles and facial hair which suggests maturity.

•   There is also use of younger characters between the ages of 7-12 years old, however they were probably used as the victims to evoke more sympathy from the viewers, and they definately was not the target audience because the age limit was 15 years old.

Texas Chainsaw 3D

•   This was rated 18.

•   All victims were 18+ years old, as they are attending university. 

•   This shows that the target audience was 18+ as there are no characters that are aged under that age limit.

The women in the movie are sexualised to be very feminine through their use of heavy make up and dressing which would show off their body.
